(Suomeksi alla)
I’ve been asked to do a lot of braids for all kinds of parties from weddings to school reunions. I thought I’d compile some of my favourite hairdos for special occasions.
If you like these and you’re looking for a Christmas present idea for someone near Helsinki, I have gift vouchers for sale in my online shop.
Ladder braid updos look great, and there are a million variations. Here, couple of quick ones from last summer:
Intricate braids take a lot more time, but are beautiful and eye-catching:
Accessories can turn any hairdo a bit fancier. Few days ago I did a normal 4-strand with pearls:
And last but not least, my favourite hairdo, that will work on almost any type of hair: double starburst bun. Here I’ve done it on 1) long & thick hair, 2) mid-length & fairly thin and 3) short & thin hair. Always looks beautiful.

I like the very first one, it’s so beautiful and it looks like it’s very strong and durable. And the double starburst buns look awesome, but I doubt I’d be able to do that with my own hair, it gets tangled all the time – I can’t even do a decent French braid without ending up with a knotted mess … is there a secret for dealing with thin, wavy hair that turns into a felt-like mat of curls when braiding it? Even for a “normal” three-strand braid I have to brush the ends out every few turns on some days. (Maybe I should move to a city with less humidity …)
When I braid longer hair, I keep on running my fingers through the strands and the rest of the hair as well. That helps to keep it untangled, smooth and even. That, and a lot of practice 🙂

How many inches around is your oldest daughters ponytail? I want to try your lovely starburst bun on my daughter but I’m not sure if her hair is maybe too thick.
Maybe about 5 inches… I’ve done the double starburst on even thicker hair. It works on almost any thickness and length!
